St. Ives Churches
There are a number of Christian Churches in St Ives. Each one has it’s own unique way of doing Church. Have a look at Churches Together in St Ives to see what we’re doing together or check out their websites below for a closer look.
The Free Church
St Ives Free Church (United Reformed) is an active congregation located in the centre of the market town of St Ives in Cambridgeshire. Together with the URC church in nearby Fenstanton, it forms the St Ives Group of Churches. The churches meet regularly for worship and fellowship. The Free Church runs a well stocked Fair Trade shop (Just Sharing) and a friendly coffee shop (Tookeys).
All Saints
All Saints is the parish church of St Ives in Cambridgeshire, serving the people of God here since the year 970. Families and individuals are all welcome to our services. Address: Church Street, St Ives, Cambs. PE27 6DG. The main celebration on Sunday is the Sung Eucharist at 10.15am. There is a simpler Eucharist at 8am and a non-eucharistic service at 6pm on the first Sunday of the month.
St Ives Christian Fellowship
St Ives Christian Fellowship is an outgoing and friendly evangelical church established over 20 years ago. We have an office in the town centre and a stall on the Monday market. Come and meet us for a chat! On Sundays we meet at Thorndown Junior School, and in homes during the week. Our service incorporates activities for children and relevant modern worship. Newcomers are welcome to all meetings.
The Bridge Church
We gather together in small groups in Huntingdon, St Ives and Fenstanton for worship, fellowship and outreach and on Sundays 10.30am at Westfield Primary School. We would love to have you join with us one Sunday or midweek. If you don’t normally go to Church, you will find us welcoming, friendly and lively. We hope you will experience the love and presence of God during our meetings and learn more about His plan for our lives through Bible based relevant teaching and ministry.
The Sacred Heart Catholic Church
Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church on Needingworth Road is twinned with the Parish of Our Lady Mother of Sorrows, Aboud, Palestine. The church is served by Missionaries of Lady of La Salette, Fr Edward Tredota MS (Parish Priest) and Fr Marek Pabis MS (Assistant Priest).
Crossways
Crossways is a friendly Assemblies of God (AoG) church on Ramsey Road with lively worship and challenging biblical teaching and preaching. Our church is made up of people from all over the world including South Africa, Ghana and Nigeria. We have a growing children’s and young people’s work.
Our Eco journey – St Ives Methodist Church
In 2017 we began with the Leadership Team making “a formal commitment to improving the environmental credentials of our Church by endorsing the undertaking of work towards an Eco Church Award”. On the basis of this and the formation of a focussed group we enrolled with the A Rocha Eco Award Scheme. This Scheme has been our framework since that decision. A Rocha is a Christian environmental charity.

The early work was initiated by the Church Finance & Property Committee. Then Project 200 (our refurbishment project from 2015 onwards) gave the Church an ideal opportunity to include eco-friendly improvements. The A Rocha Eco Award Scheme Questionnaire (5 sections – Worship, Land, Buildings, Community& Global and Personal Lifestyle) has always guided our actions and we started by replacing plastic cups, changing to renewables, installing a water meter, cycle stands and water butts, and improving our recycling facilities.
We achieved the A Rocha Bronze Award in 2019.
In August 2019 we replaced a rear CAR PARK WALL – an old breeze block rear Car Park boundary with a new sleepers garden bed with low maintenance planting. This was done in partnership with St Ives in Bloom and church volunteers,
Since then we have hosted Eco Fairs, worked with Holt Island Nature Reserve on children and family projects, attended relevant local Conferences and much more !
In Project 200 Phase 2 the Heating System was replaced with a modern system with an A rated boiler,
In Project 200 Phase 3 (2020) we implemented many other eco decisions – LED lighting throughout – internal and external, additional insulation in the Hall and Upper Room,
After focussing on the building we then turned our attention to the land around our buildings. To help the native wildlife bird nest boxes (sited with guidance by local RSPB) were installed along with a bug hotel. We are very grateful for the A Rocha scheme which encourages us to think more broadly about the role of the Church in such an important issue. As a result of further progress we were granted the Silver Award in June 2023.
We have always taken an active interest and involvement in worship – organised Church Services referring regularly to the climate justice agenda. We work closely with a number of local eco groups – St Ives Eco Faiths Group, St Ives Eco Action Group, and St Ives Climate Cafes/Eco Cafes.
We are now spending a period consolidating earlier work e.g. greening the church land will be developed into a land plan for the future.

Fairtrade Church
Whether you drop in during Thursday’s Coffee on the Waits, or stop for a cuppa after a morning service, you can be sure that the tea or coffee that you drink is always Fairtrade. We are an officially accredited Fairtrade church, as recognised by the Fairtrade Foundation.
St Ives Methodist Church has been supporting and campaigning for Fairtrade for over 22 years! This has included running regular stalls selling Fairtrade goods, collecting till receipts and lobbying supermarkets, demonstrating at national events and getting involved with high profile campaigns such as Jubilee 2000, and Make Poverty History.
Thanks to the success of such campaigns, Fairtrade is now a well-known concept. Rather than focusing on running our own stalls, these days we are able to encourage all our members to think Fairtrade when they are filling their supermarket trolley and if their supermarket does not sell a particular Fairtrade product they are after, ask them to stock it.
The St Ives Just Sharing shop is also a great source of Fairtrade goodies including new and pioneering products, many of which could be on the supermarket shelves in the future if we shout loud enough. We are a church committed to justice for the world’s poor.
Where ever you shop, remember to ask about Fairtrade and look for the Fairtrade logo.
